How Ad Blocker for JioHotstar By Folner handles the limited browser and website information required for focused ad request blocking.

Effective August 18, 2026Version 1.1.0Published by Folner

Short version: Ad Blocker for JioHotstar By Folner processes limited browser and website data locally for its single purpose. It does not transmit, sell, share, or retain that data outside your Chrome profile, and it does not collect personal information on Folner servers.

Data stored on your device

The extension stores the global blocking preference, three popup settings, and the number of ad requests blocked today in Chrome local storage. The three settings control sponsored banner hiding, automatic tab reload after the global switch changes, and the toolbar badge count. The activity record contains only a local calendar day and count.

No identifier is created, and none of these values is sent to Folner, JioHotstar, or any other party.

Web history processed locally

The popup reads the active tab URL only to determine whether the current page is on hotstar.com and whether the blocking switch should be available. This URL is processed locally, is not retained, and is not transmitted.

Website content processed locally

Chrome’s declarative request blocking API compares requests initiated by hotstar.com with packaged static rules. A local JioHotstar content script looks only for known sponsored banner markers and a confirmed visible video inside the known ad container. It may read that video’s visibility, duration, and current playback position and seek it to the end.

This website content is processed locally, is not retained, and is not transmitted. The extension does not read account, payment, subscription, sign in, or media entitlement information.

Popup design

The popup provides one global blocking switch for every JioHotstar tab, today’s local activity figures, and three settings. If automatic reload is enabled, the active JioHotstar tab reloads after the switch changes. There is no per tab pause, keyboard shortcut, or manual reload control.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The extension uses locally processed information only to provide its disclosed single purpose.

Services not used

The extension does not use analytics, tracking, advertising, remote code, external runtime packages, external servers, cookies, user accounts, or data brokers.

Data retention and deletion

Website content and active tab URLs are not retained. The blocking preference and settings remain in Chrome local storage until you change them, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension. The activity count rolls over locally when the calendar day changes and can be cleared at any time with Reset Statistics. Uninstalling removes extension storage according to Chrome behavior.
